Letters from China

When I retired from the Toronto school board a few years ago I accepted a teaching contract in Suzhou, China, arriving there in August 2019. I spent a great four months teaching English to kids in a city called Zhangjiagang, one of the best experiences of my life. I had to return to Canada at the end of the year in order to renew my visa — and then in the new year Covid descended upon us. I never got to return, and more’s the pity. During my time there I sent a regular series of newsletters to my family and circle of friends back home. Here they are. Enjoy!
