Stories, Books & Plays

A growing library of stories, fables, and theatrical works by W.A. Frederick (Andrew F. Wood)

Welcome! This page gathers together many of the narratives I’ve created over the years — published stories, illustrated books preparing for release, children’s plays, puppet-theatre scripts, and works currently in development. Some will be available soon; others are still going through the long journey from script to finished book. Thank you for exploring what’s coming.

The Clown King

A modern fable of vanity, laughter, and the dangerous shadow of admiration.
This fully illustrated fairy-tale satire is the first official release under my pen name W.A. Frederick.

The Queen of Zilch

This mad romp in three acts is written in the British Panto tradition — it’s complete and performance-ready. This is a hilarious comedy of mistaken identities, misplaced ambitions, and royal absurdities. I am posting the first two scenes of Act One to the website. Read and enjoy! Inquiries regarding the full text and production rights are welcome.

Santa, We Still Love You!

A children’s Christmas play — complete and performance-tested at Casa Loma in Toronto. Poor Santa thinks that the children of the world have forgotten all about him. But no! Their letters have been stolen by the villainous Sneakel E. Snitch. Production inquiries are welcome.

The Lonely Hunter

An original short story that pays homage to the style of a Mi’kmaq legend.

Puppet Theatre Scripts

Check out some of the many scripts I created for Peter Peter Puppet Theater. For quite a few years we performed extensively in both Ontario, Canada and in Florida during the winter months!

Works in Development

The Skeleton in the Closet

What is it that waits silently at the top of the stairs? (A story for 5 to 8 year old children written in free verse. I am currently seeking a publisher to turn it into an illustrated children’s book.)

The Story of Corey

Corey is sick in bed and can’t go to school. Whatever could be wrong with him? (This story was a staple for me when I was performing as a children’s entertainer, and now it’s time to bring it out in book form.)

The Seven Deadly Sins

(A Series of Modern Fables) A major illustrated series currently in creation. Each story explores one of the seven classical vices through fairy-tale storytelling, humour, and vivid characters. I’ve written five of the seven stories and am now working on the next one.
